I had some leftover soil from an orchid which I mixed in with gritty sand at a bit less than half/half ratio. Using fine, powdery sand is a bad idea. This one is doing well, its colour is dark and most of the leaves are vertical, both of which I have heard to be desirable traits. However, some leaf tips are missing from burn and I have not witnessed its pups/flowers.
